Co-Curricular Courses

Art courses at Guardian Angels Regional School are designed to be hands-on and immersive, encouraging students to explore art from various perspectives. Our students engage in various creative projects, from painting and chalk drawing to working with clay, mosaics, and recycling materials to create unique sculptures. Students are introduced to new art mediums and techniques through these diverse activities, sparking their creativity and broadening their understanding of artistic expression. By encouraging experimentation and discovery, our art program helps students develop their creative skills and ability to see the world in fresh, imaginative ways.

At Guardian Angels Regional School, our Library program encourages children to explore the world of reading by giving them the opportunity to select books that match their interests and reading abilities. Students are guided to choose books at their current reading level and are encouraged to challenge themselves with materials slightly above their level to expand their comprehension and vocabulary. With access to a wide range of genres and topics, our library fosters a love of reading while helping students develop critical thinking and literacy skills. This supportive environment inspires students to grow as confident, curious readers, setting the foundation for lifelong learning.

The Guardian Angels Regional School music program offers a rich, immersive experience that introduces students to various musical genres. From classical and contemporary to sacred and folk music, students engage with diverse musical traditions that broaden their cultural understanding and creativity. Through hands-on activities like singing, playing instruments, and music appreciation, the program fosters technical skills and a deep love for music. This well-rounded approach ensures that students gain a holistic understanding of music's role in history, culture, and personal expression while nurtured in a Christ-centered environment.

Music is a vital component of a child’s education, as it enhances learning across all subjects and contributes to their overall development. Research shows that studying music helps improve memory, focus, and critical thinking, all of which are essential skills for academic success. Beyond the cognitive benefits, music also fosters emotional intelligence, discipline, and teamwork—qualities that are key to completing the "whole student." At Guardian Angels Regional School, the music program supports these goals, helping students grow intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually in a well-rounded, supportive setting.

The Guardian Angels Regional School technology program is designed to prepare students for the future by equipping them with essential digital skills from an early age. Beginning in Kindergarten, every student receives a Chromebook, which they use to engage in interactive learning activities, research, and projects. In middle school, these Chromebooks become integral to daily work and homework, fostering independence, organization, and technological proficiency. The curriculum includes courses emphasizing responsible internet use, coding, and digital literacy, ensuring students are prepared to navigate the increasingly digital world while staying grounded in their faith-based education.

Access to technology at a young age is crucial in today’s learning environment. At Guardian Angels Regional School, even our youngest students are given the tools to explore and learn in a modern, interactive way. Introducing technology to Pre-K students fosters curiosity and creativity, as they engage with educational apps and programs designed to enhance foundational skills in literacy and numeracy. By placing technology in the hands of our students, we not only provide them with cutting-edge tools for academic success but also help them develop critical problem-solving abilities, collaboration skills, and digital citizenship that will serve them throughout their lives.

The Guardian Angels Regional School World Language program provides a strong foundation in Spanish, starting as early as the Pre-Kindergarten level. Beginning at three, our youngest students are introduced to essential Spanish words and phrases through songs, games, and interactive activities. This early exposure fosters a natural curiosity for language learning, allowing students to absorb vocabulary and pronunciation fun and engagingly. As students progress through each grade level, they continue to build on this foundation, expanding their vocabulary, conversational skills, and understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures.

By the time students reach 4th-8th grade, they attend two Spanish classes per week, where they delve deeper into the language. These classes focus on more complex sentence structures, grammar, and conversational fluency, ensuring students can communicate effectively in Spanish. Consistent practice and exposure to the language enhance cognitive development and memory skills and broaden cultural awareness. Learning Spanish from a young age enriches students’ overall educational experience, preparing them to thrive in a globalized world while aligning with the school’s mission of nurturing well-rounded, Christ-centered individuals.

At Guardian Angels Regional School, the physical education program offers Kindergarten through 8th grade students an engaging and dynamic environment to develop physical fitness, coordination, and a love for active living. In these classes, students participate in various activities, from traditional team sports like soccer and basketball to individual exercises focusing on strength, endurance, and flexibility. Health education is also integrated, helping students understand the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. These classes promote physical well-being and encourage students to develop self-discipline, perseverance, and goal-setting skills.

An essential component of the physical education curriculum is emphasizing teamwork and good sportsmanship. Students learn how to collaborate with their peers, communicate effectively, and respect one another both on and off the field. By focusing on the values of fair play, cooperation, and mutual respect, the program fosters a positive environment where students can grow in character and physical ability. These lessons in teamwork and sportsmanship align with the school's mission to shape students into compassionate, responsible individuals who value both personal achievement and the well-being of others.
